According to The Independent, the Scottish government will join England and Wales in publishing draft legislation to ban disposable vapes.

Scotland has joined England and Wales in taking a step towards banning disposable vapes in a bid to create a smoke-free generation. According to The Independent, the draft legislation will be open for public comment until March 8 and will then be advanced using powers conferred by the Environmental Protection Act 1990. If the legislation is approved by Parliament, the sale and supply of disposable vapes will be banned by April 2025.

Circular Economy Minister Lorna Slater said Scotland had worked closely with England and Wales to agree a date for the ban. “Legislation to ban the sale and supply of disposable vapes fulfills the Government’s commitment to reduce vape use by non-smokers and young people and take action to tackle the environmental impact,” she said.

She said: “In the past year, Scottish consumers consumed and discarded more than 26 million disposable vapes, which are a threat to our environment and public health.”

Furthermore, like England, Scotland aims to make it illegal for people born after January 1, 2009 to buy tobacco. In order for the legislation to move forward across the UK, Scotland needs a legislative consent motion, The Independent reports.

As a brand with eleven years of vape factory experience dedicated to promoting healthy alternatives, Veehoo vapes have always advocated the concept of environmental protection. The ban on disposable vapes will help reduce the generation of plastic waste and e-waste and protect the environment and public health.

The report also mentioned that Scotland, like England, aims to make it illegal for people born after January 1, 2009 to buy tobacco. In order for the legislation to progress across the UK, Scotland needs a legislative consent motion.

Veehoo vapes believe that these environmental initiatives are crucial to shaping a more sustainable future. They said that as a member of the vape industry, they will continue to work on developing and promoting more environmentally friendly products and encourage consumers to choose reusable vape devices to reduce the negative impact on the environment.

In summary, the Scottish Government plans to ban the sale and supply of disposable vapes to reduce the generation of plastic waste and e-waste.
